The long and tenuous presidential race wasn’t the only bumpy road this year.

Americans across the country, seeking a smoother ride on their work commutes and daily travel, voted in favor of a whopping three dozen ballot measures aimed at improving public transit.

Fixing our crumbling infrastructure was one issue that both presidential candidates agreed on, and voters responded by approving 33 of 48 state and local ballot measures aimed at raising or borrowing money to expand rail and bus lines – including D.C.’s neighboring Prince George’s, Arlington, and Fairfax Counties, which all voted in favor of Metro improvements.
