Service Dogs Save Lives

by

Over 20% of post-9/11 veterans suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, a disability with severe symptoms of anxiety, depression, isolation and, worst of all, suicidal ideation.

The VA estimates at least 20 veterans die by suicide daily. Trained service dogs are a prescription on four legs that mitigate the debilitations of PTSD without the harmful side effects of pharmaceuticals. K9s For Warriors has successfully paired life-saving service dogs with 370 veterans.

Service dogs should be a federally funded standard of care for veterans with PTSD to return them to their communities and families as productive, hopeful citizens.
