Originally a retreat center opened in 1891, Glen Echo Park has undergone multiple transformations. From 1911-1968 it became a hub of activity as an amusement park with rides and a beach.

In 2002, the park transitioned to a cultural center. While many of the attractions of the mid-1900s are closed, visitors can get a glimpse of what the amusement park was like by visiting remnants of former favorites like restaurants, Crystal Pool, the old Bumper Car Pavilion and the Chautauqua Tower.

The Dentzel Carousel, built in 1921 and masterfully restored in 2019, continues to welcome visitors with whimsy and nostalgia.
