Renewing America’s nuclear leadership will strengthen national security

by
Americas nuclear leadership

In the 1950s, America became the global leader in commercial nuclear energy, inventing breakthrough technology and setting international standards for safety, security and nonproliferation. Over the years, however, we’ve slowly but surely ceded that position to other nations, including some who could put world security interests at risk.

I’ve led a bipartisan group in the Senate to introduce the Nuclear Energy Leadership Act. It consists of smart and timely policies that will break down barriers the market cannot solve, promote advanced reactor concepts and restore America as the foremost champion and guide for this clean, safe and reliable energy source.

– Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Chairman, U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources
