Empowering young farmers

by
Sen. Joni Ernst

The average age of the American farmer is trending upward. Meanwhile, the need for a secure food supply intensifies each year.

We must invest in young farmers and ranchers. As Congress addresses numerous issues, encouraging and supporting young farmers must remain a high priority. This includes aiding agricultural organizations that give the next generation opportunities to stay involved in agriculture and reinforce family values.

For young people whose dream it is to run a farm just like their parents or grandparents, we should do what we can to empower them to achieve that goal and preserve that way of life.

– Senator Joni Ernst, Member, Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry
