Amid Troubling Jobs Data, Franchising and New Labor Secretary Offer Solution

When the Department of Labor released the latest jobs numbers this month, many lauded the low unemployment rates since the Great Recession, while missing the far bigger story – the historically low labor participation rate.

One of the ways to fix this worsening hole in the jobs data bucket is through franchising, which has been a quiet engine powering our economy. Recognizing this contribution, President-elect Trump nominated successful business leader Andy Puzder for Labor Secretary.

When the Senate considers his nomination, they’ll learn Andy is committed to solving underemployment, workforce participation, and the broader structural problems dragging down the economy.
