Majority of Fuel Industry Supports Keeping Current RFS Compliance Structure

by

Refiners, retailers and renewable fuel groups continue to mount pressure on the EPA to reject petitions to change the compliance structure under the Renewable Fuel Standard.

A handful of refiners and investors want to shift compliance onto fuel retailers and marketers — a move that would inject massive disruption into the fuels marketplace while hurting hardworking Americans who would pay more at the pump.

Stakeholders across the transportation fuel industry agree: while it isn’t perfect, the RFS is working as intended. The current structure creates a strong incentive for blenders, retailers and marketers to blend renewable fuels into the supply chain.
