After failing to repeal Obamacare, the GOP is pivoting to tax reform. The House tax reform blueprint has dominated discussions, but other tax reform plans are in the works.
Treasury Secretary Mnuchin, NEC head Cohn, and Commerce Secretary Ross reportedly are crafting the president’s tax plan, and an Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy may be coming soon.
Chairman Hatch’s corporate integration proposal may get incorporated into the Senate Finance Committee’s plan. It remains to be seen how the plans will be consolidated. In addition, the healthcare debacle is prompting some consideration of more limited tax changes as “easier” to achieve.
