The State of the Media

by Michael Polzella

The week of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner is one of Washington’s most action-packed of the year. But looking past the pomp, it’s a time to recognize the importance of a free press and the role that excellent journalism plays in our society.

That is why this edition of The Washington DC 100 will feature our 2017 Washington Women in Journalism Awards honorees and other sharp media minds, addressing the “the state of the media.”

These reflections on their careers, institutional trust and more provide insight into where journalism is and where it’s headed in this new media age.
