Rich States, Poor States and Policy: ALEC’s 2017 Ranking

by Michael Polzella

State legislators are uniquely positioned as agents of change, which is why the American Legislative Exchange Council continues to be at the forefront of pro-business, free market state policies.

Last month, we published the 10th edition of Rich States, Poor States: ALEC-Laffer State Economic Competitiveness Index, ranking states by policy variables including taxes, regulatory burdens and labor policies. Used by state lawmakers nationwide, the index reveals a pro-growth trend across the nation for 2017, which is good news for all Americans, as issues that affect everyone – education, trade, healthcare, tax reform – are decided at the state level.
