In America’s Opioid Crisis, We Need a Cure

by

One person dies every 10 minutes from a drug overdose in America, according to the CDC. We’re working against the clock in this life-saving mission and it requires a multipronged approach to stop illegal drug sales, prevent abuse and properly treat addiction.

The FY17 Omnibus Appropriations bill fulfills the promise of bipartisan legislation enacted during the 114th Congress — the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery and 21st Century Cures Acts — by including $781 million more than last year to fight the opioid epidemic. This funding will boost holistic efforts across the country to curb the tide of abuse and save lives.

Rep. Hal Rogers, co-founding co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Prescription Drug Abuse
