CTA Backs Bill for Over-the-Counter Hearing Aids

Over-the-counter hearing devices cost a fraction of the price of traditional hearing aids and don’t require a prescription. However, the Federal Drug Administration prohibits the marketing of these hearing loss devices.

In response, the Consumer Technology Association recently launched a campaign urging advocates to tell their representatives to support the Over-the-Counter Hearing Aid Act, sponsored by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). CTA used the Phone2Action Platform to engage thousands of people to contact their legislators in support of this bill. The measure has passed the House and Senate, and is currently waiting on the president’s signature.
