Trump In 2020? The Poll Numbers Are an Uphill Climb

by
Side of a Gallup building.

It may be unprecedented that a president has his approval rating scrutinized so closely. But Donald Trump is no ordinary president, and Gallup’s daily tracking poll indicates how much the American public approves of the man in the Oval Office.

Recently, we published a state-by-state breakdown of Trump’s approval in all 50 states. He was over 50% in 17 states in his first six months in office, with an average of 40%. In Maryland, he was at 30%, and in Virginia 39%. Looking ahead, he should be closer to 50% if he wants to be reelected in 2020.
