Did you know women have served in military operations since the American Revolution, but weren’t officially recognized as servicemembers until World War I – 100 years ago?
I come from a military family, yet I still received incredulous looks when I deployed to Iraq. Women have been raising our hands and saying, “Send me!” since the birth of this nation. Yet 73% of women IAVA surveyed said they don’t think the public respects their service.
Please remember the service of my sisters in arms and me this Veterans Day. And join our campaign to recognize and support women veterans: SheWhoBornetheBattle.org.
