The string of highly visible breaches over the past several years has shed an immense spotlight on the seriousness of the cybersecurity challenges we face.
This underscores why we must remain diligent in our efforts to secure federal networks, build a stronger cyber workforce and improve public-private collaboration.
I’m glad my bill, the 2017 Strengthening State and Local Cyber Crime Fighting Act (H.R. 1616), recently became law to tackle cybersecurity issues at the local level. Empowering our officials on the front lines to better protect our communities against evolving threats will help boost our nation’s overall cybersecurity posture.
