It’s important to me to share my voice as a female economist, a profession, despite Janet Yellen’s recent appointment, still woefully lacking in women leaders. Specifically, as a labor economist, it’s important to have diversity of perspective at the table when important policy conversations are taking place.
Women face much different structural challenges in a workforce than men. How tax, health and even energy policy is considered can have significant domino effects on the viability of women to enter the workforce and stay employed.
