Empowering students to make a difference

by

Nearly 25 years ago, I graduated from Stoneman Douglas High School. While it’s always shocking to hear of any school shooting, the anguish victims’ families experience becomes more relevant when the tragedy takes place at your school.

Since the incident, school alumni have been active in finding ways to support the students. Yet, the greatest way to support them is through encouragement.

Social activism is second nature to this generation. Their personal stories combined with their passion for activism have taken the gun control debate to a new level. Through encouragement, we can empower these students to make a difference.
