New car-sharing service coming to DC

The Michigan-based Penske Corporation is entering the car-sharing business, and the DC area is where the company has chosen to launch its new service, Penske Dash. Last month’s launch comes on the heels of similar services, including Free2Move and Car2Go, starting operations in the city.

Getting wheels through Penske Dash is simple – users locate and unlock a car with a mobile app, then return it to any legal parking space when finished. Rental rates are $0.45 per minute or $15 per hour.

Penske’s prior automotive experience and its partnership with Colonial Parking will help nurture the new venture.
