Washington’s restaurant accolades aren’t slowing.
The James Beard Foundation Awards – the “Oscars of Food” – announced its 2017 semifinalists earlier this month, and D.C. has quite the helping of nominees – 19 to be exact.
While some come as no surprise – Aaron Silverman, who took home “Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic” last year, now has Pineapple and Pearls up for “Best New Restaurant” – others come from places you might not expect. Also nominated for “Best New Restaurant” is the National Museum of African American History and Culture’s Sweet Home Cafe (in case you needed another reason to see the stunning new monument).
