Although still cheaper than trash, costs for processing recyclables have skyrocketed from $15.73 per ton to $28.62 per ton in the last six months for Arlington residents. To make the process smoother, follow these tips:
• Reuse, repair and donate items whenever possible to generate less waste to begin with.
• Rinse and clean out food and beverage containers.
• Make sure to leave out incorrect materials like plastic bags, plastic foam cups and plates, etc.
• To ensure it gets recycled, drop off glass at the county’s two centers at N. Quincy Street and Washington Blvd. and 2700 S. Taylor St.
