In a letter, President Biden told Office of Science and Technology Policy Director nominee, Eric Lander, “It is essential that we refresh and reinvigorate our national science and technology strategy…” If confirmed, Lander will be the first science advisor in the president’s Cabinet.

Among newly confirmed Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm’s priorities: overseeing scientific projects at national labs.

Additionally, three  top-level science advisors are pioneers in their fields. Frances Arnold and Maria Zuber co-chair the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. Alondra Nelson, a racism in science and medicine expert, is OSTP deputy director for science and society.
