First round of Amazon HQ2 jobs announced

This week, Amazon just announced the first round of jobs specific to the new headquarters opening in Crystal City.

According to Ardine Williams, vice president of workforce development for HQ2, Amazon is ahead of schedule in creating about 400 new jobs in 2019 and a total of 25,000 over the next 10+ years. Amazon also hopes to hire an additional 1,100 local employees this year – with over half in tech-related positions.

The new headquarters’ total leased space is currently at 584,512 square feet, and expected to grow to 4 million square feet or more over time.
