Covering Trump: Storylines and Elections

by Michael Polzella

If schadenfreude made a sound, Washington would be reverberating with it. Democrats and #NeverTrump-ers are gloating as the Trump administration stumbles through its first 100 days.

Many in the media are desperately seeking a Trump “buyer’s remorse” story – but it’s simply too early. For most people, 100 days into the world’s toughest job isn’t enough to time to make a judgment on his future success.

More importantly, this storyline misses an important psychological element: nobody likes to be told they made a mistake. You want to be understood for why you made that decision, not mocked for doing it.
