As Debate Continues, Who Will Have the Hill’s Ear?

by

Hospitals, doctors, and nonprofit insurers have criticized the AHCA, especially since the House shut most of them out of the process. But the GOP bill has garnered tacit support from pharma, medical device companies and big insurers that would benefit from repealed taxes.

The AHCA would slash Medicaid funding and increase the uninsured rate. Hospitals and doctors have been the loudest opponents since they’d be treating more patients without the means to pay.

The Senate is more receptive to hearing out industry groups, but many are also desperate to repeal the ACA and possibly won’t hold any hearings on changes.
