Noem: Death Tax Puts American Dream in Jeopardy

by

My dad woke up at the crack of dawn almost every morning to build a farm large enough so his kids could farm together one day. When he died unexpectedly, that American Dream was put into jeopardy by the death tax.

While my own family’s story wraps around this issue, I reject the death tax because it is a double tax. Families paid taxes when they bought the land or machinery; they shouldn’t be taxed on it again just because they lost someone. We need to repeal the Death Tax, so no family has to go through what ours did.

Rep. Kristi Noem, House Subcommittee on Tax Policy
