America’s infrastructure is aging and in need of serious repair and improvements.
Effective legislation must also streamline the regulatory and permitting environment to ensure cost efficiency. Too often, well-intended projects get bogged down in expensive and time-consuming bureaucracy that wastes taxpayer dollars.
In addition to roads, bridges, high-speed broadband, ports, locks and dams, spending must also help protect our electrical grid and other critical infrastructure from the 21st century dangers of cyberattacks, electromagnetic pulse (EMP) and geomagnetic disturbances (GMD). I look forward to working with my colleagues to develop an infrastructure plan that we can all support.
