Analyzing the President’s proposed budget

by Michael Polzella

This month, the Trump administration released its proposed budget for fiscal year 2019. This proposal isn’t legislation and doesn’t become law but serves as a request for Congress on how to fund the government. The proposed budget also shows the president’s priorities.

Within this proposal, there are calls for increased funding for agencies and departments, as well as severe cuts for others. The budget also does not do anything to eliminate the federal deficit that continues to rise.

In this week’s edition, we’ll explore the president’s budget in greater depth and discuss specific priorities that have been outlined within it.
