Making priorities reality

by Michael Polzella

President Trump’s budget ignores the challenges working families confront every day.

Imagine how different our economy would look if everyone had a real shot at a college education, if every child had access to quality preschool, and if we had a strong paid family leave policy. What if we finally connected rural America to broadband internet and took on the opioid crisis with real money?

We could make all of these priorities a reality if we took each dollar President Trump gave away in tax breaks for his wealthy friends and major corporations and instead invested them in our communities.

U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich, Ranking Member of the Joint Economic Committee
