As a former owner of a pavement marking company, I always told my employees they would never read the names of the lives they saved in the paper, but their work was without a doubt saving lives. It is why, in Congress, I continue to fight for funding for roadway safety projects.
Recently, I lost a friend and former employee, Michael Friendy, who was hit while working in a construction zone. In 2015 alone, 700 people were killed in work zones due to vehicle crashes.
Congress needs to make roadway safety a priority as we work to rebuild America’s infrastructure.
