Broadband providers of the American Cable Association are using private investment to build critical infrastructure for smaller communities and rural areas. But, ACA members could do more if fewer barriers existed.
For example, owners of right-of-way, poles and conduit restrict and overcharge for access. State and local governments often pile on taxes and fees. Federal agencies impose too many onerous regulations.
The new administration and Congress should address these barriers, enabling ACA members to accelerate their deployment of state-of-the-art communications networks. The result will be greater economic growth, job creation and improved quality of life.
