A modernized NAFTA is critical

by
Roger Marshall

Annually, U.S. producers ship more than $38 billion in agricultural products to Canada and Mexico. There’s no understating the value of the agreement to America’s heartland – the world needs American-made products.

A modernized NAFTA that expands market access and increases American competitiveness is critical. Last month in Mexico, it was refreshing to see the dedication to a new agreement among negotiators, and never once did any of them mention withdrawal.

NAFTA makes North America an economic powerhouse. As the eighth round of negotiations approaches, it’s my hope that the spirit of finding a win-win-win agreement prevails.
