The Beer Institute and our member companies appreciate President Trump’s commitment to protecting American jobs and his pledge to defend American workers.
However, a 10% tariff on imported aluminum is a new $347 million tax on brewers – one that hits domestic suppliers especially hard at a time when the administration is encouraging domestic manufacturing.
The United States is home to more than 5,000 active breweries that support more than 2.2 million jobs. This tariff will likely cause more than 20,000 Americans who rely on the beer industry, from farmers to waiters and waitresses, to lose their jobs.
