Examining the economic impact of trade

From withdrawing from TPP to renegotiating NAFTA to imposing new tariffs on steel and aluminum, the president’s trade policies have led to widespread support and opposition.

Some are supportive of these policies because they believe the effect will boost the U.S. economy. Others are worried about global retaliation and the impact on American exports and jobs, especially with China announcing tariffs on 100+ U.S. products, including many agricultural products, and the president proposing additional tariffs on Chinese products.

With so much of our economy based on trade, we’ll examine the economic impact of these policies, especially for agriculture.
