After 83 years of a Democrat-controlled legislature, Republicans took control of the Legislature beginning January 2015. Since then, West Virginia’s unemployment rate dropped to 5.3 percent, and its GDP growth has been among the highest in the country.
That’s why one study noted that West Virginia experienced the most growth of any state in 2017 and had the strongest economy in the nation moving into 2018. This amazing comeback is just the beginning. After years of hostility from the White House, West Virginia now has an ally in the president, and we look forward to continued economic growth.
