That’s why we have turnover as low as 7% historically compared to 90% nationally. However, the shortage affects Walmart, too; recently, we began offering up to $1,500 referral bonuses.
It goes beyond what companies can do – poor infrastructure, highway congestion and limited safe, efficient parking contribute to the tight market. Maybe equally important, many states allow commercial licenses for drivers 18 and older; policymakers should consider making the lower age limit a national standard for qualified drivers.
