In 2017, the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) has established a consortium of leading agricultural companies and institutes to launch the Crops of the Future Collaborative.
Combining strengths with UC Davis, 15 lettuce breeding and biotechnology companies will leverage their knowledge and capabilities to focus on the understanding of biological processes influencing important traits in leafy vegetables and needed to adapt to changing climatic and technological environments.
This public-private consortium will accelerate breeding of healthy and nutritious crops for US growers and consumers, contribute to the world’s food supply and stimulate global vegetable consumption for healthy diets.
