Chairman Roberts: Senate to Approach Farm Bill Through Listening Tour, Bipartisanship

by

Our farmers and ranchers are experiencing difficult times. Prices are low. Regulations are stifling progress and efficiency. The credit situation is tightening. And the vital crop insurance program always seems to be on the chopping block.

This Congress, we are writing a new Farm Bill – for farmers and consumers. We are starting the process by listening. In fact, we just held a hearing in Kansas, and the next stop is Michigan.

It will take time, but Ranking Member Debbie Stabenow and I have a proven track record of success when tackling tough issues. This Farm Bill will be no different.

Sen. Pat Roberts, Chairman, U.S. Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee
